Artist's Comments

My first model that's polished/finished enough to be presentable. This was our sixth project in my 3D class, obviously it was of a car. The project was called toy car, but the term toy car to me conjures up images of a Matchbox car, or something of similar size, not a Playskool car that a kid could actually sit on.

In any event, this was our introduction to modeling more organic shapes, curves, etc.

Modeled in Maya.

Also this is the first time I got to pick 3-Dimensional Art under categories in a long time.

The shapes are nice with friendly curves.
Though, I have to suggest to make the steering wheel a little wider (bigger diameter).
Allow the kid to feel it :)
Guide him to his call, to his future passion :)

All the best!

Yeah, that part was the last thing I did on the project, so it was obviously the thing I had the least amount of time for. The body is where I spent most of my time, trying to get the curves just so, to make it look like that molded plastic we all grew up with. I'm pretty happy with it overall, and I do agree with you on the steering wheel thing. But first tries will be first tries! Thanks!

My brother came home from London for his vacation and gave me a radio-controlled toy car as a present. I have never seen anything like that before! What a speed! And what maneuvering performance! It looks like a real race car and there is a figure of the driver inside. And my brother brought an identical toy car for himself; the only difference is that his is red and a bit smaller in size. We are holding toy car races every day. On the packaging box, we found the name of the manufacturer - the company Manuflex Group and reference to their website [link] – maybe, next time he will give me a toy boat from their website for a present?
